Authenticity is a collection of 4 original abstract mixed media paintings on canvas.
This collection is a culmination of the exploration of my artistic style thus far in my career (high school, college, post grad), and was an attempt at creating something that represented who I am as an artist. Its hard to stand confident in your authentic self in a world with endless opinions. We’re taught to value the opinions and instruction of others over our inner voice. This collection stands to change that, and hopefully inspire you to allow your authentic self to become more present in your every day life.
Ranging in size from 12 x 16 in to 24 x 36 in these pieces contain bold acrylic paint strokes in a neutral color palette of mars black, titanium white, titan buff, and yellow ochre. Layered in are vintage book pages, tissue paper, scrapbook paper, vintage lace, and gold leaf paint. The names of each piece come from a hidden word or phrase in the piece, many of them on the vintage book papers and slightly peaking out through the acrylic paint.
The Authenticity collection showcases the of mixing papers and paint that is the cornerstone of Ashley's unique painting style.
