Sunflowers Vol. 1 is a collection of 3 original mixed media paintings on canvas.
This collection is the culmination of all my years paintings different variations of mixed media sunflowers. Exploring different textures between the petals, center, and stem while focusing on sunflowers in their end of season stage. I’ve always had a fascination with transitions, in seasons and in life, and this collection stands as a testament to exploring those times in your life. When your not quite where you once were, yet not ready to move into the next phase. Lingering in the in between.
Ranging in size from 16 x 20 in to 30 x 40 in these pieces were created using various papers, coffee grounds, and bold acrylic paint strokes in a color palette of mars black, titanium white, titan buff, and yellow ochre.
Each painting has a sunflower created with paper and layered with acrylic paint. The background is plain white to emphasize the dimensional flowers, petals and stems curving and folding up off the canvas.
The SUNFLOWERS VOL. 1 collection showcases the of mixing papers and paint that is the cornerstone of Ashley's unique painting style.
