This collection is a inspired by the idea of whimsical thinking. Pairing items together that don’t necessarily make sense in the beginning, but eventually tell a story is an excellent creative practice. Remembering to be a bit silly and lighthearted in the world when everything can seem so dark. The intention of this collection is to remind you to shift your perspective out of the ordinary, and hopefully inspire you to add a little bit of whimsy into your every day life.

Sized from 11 x 14 in these pieces contain bold acrylic paint strokes in a neutral color palette of mars black, titanium white, titan buff, and yellow ochre. Each piece is highlighted with golf leaf paint accents that shimmer with shifts in light perspective. Layered into each painting is an image of a light fixture and a phrase, creating a little story or evoking a memory unique to the combination of materials. The pieces use mainly images from a Mid 2010’s Elle Decor magazine and a 1970’s Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. A common theme in Ashley’s paintings of juxtaposing the old and the new.
