Naming ashley ann art

When thinking about what my artist name should be, it took me a while to settle onto a name. What do you call yourself when you decide to become serious about your art? For years I was playing around with names, nothing seemed right. Pages and pages of name combinations and words that sounded unique. Eventually I decided the smartest move would be to use my own name, but how should it look?

My first name and last name are too long to look cool or fit into any social media handle or website. And what if I get married? Then, I might want to change everything anyways.

One day when I was researching how other artists named their businesses , I noticed a lot of people using their middle names. Then I thought, what about my middle name? I never really use that. My full middle name is Ann Marie which came from a combination of grandma and great grandma’s middle names.

However, Ashley Ann has a nice ring to it. Add on art. Ashley Ann Art. It clicked. Instantly it felt right. It was also a name I’ve never used before which felt like a new beginning, which is what Ashley Art Art is for me.

I opened a Christmas present from my Nana. This was the card on one of the presents. I had totally forgot that she used to call me Ashley Ann when I was a little girl.

After YEARS of never feeling sure of what to call myself as an artist, I settle on this name, then see it on a present! I truly believe in aligning moments, that certain things are meant to be and this feels like one of them.
